DR. IWAN R. SOEDIGDO
Dr. Iwan R. Soedigdo is the Founder and Chairman of P.T. Archipelago Offshore Engineering, an engineering consulting firm specializing in deepwater technology solution which is set up in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2008, by a group of highly qualified consultants.
Dr. Iwan was previously the Chief of Indonesia Deepwater Development project at the Executive Agency for Upstream Oil and Gas Regulator, BPMIGAS, 2009-11. He was also a member of the government delegation to present to the Department of Energy (DOE) under the US-Indonesia Energy Policy Dialogue on the prospect of Indonesian Deepwater Oil & Gas Field Development in Washington, D.C. He has more than 33 years of working experience particularly on the FEED and EPCI projects in the offshore oil and gas industry. He involved in all phases of offshore engineering design and analysis specifically in the areas of deepwater floating production, riser and mooring systems.
Dr. Iwan was a Research Associate at Ocean Drilling program at Texas A&M University for Texaco Deep Star project involved in the conceptual design selection of deepwater floating structures at the Gulf of Mexico, 1994-96. He successfully developed the wave equation model for driving 2,200 feet conductor casing below the mud-line in the deepwater environment. He subsequently joined Fluor Corporation, Houston, to work on various offshore oil and gas field development projects worldwide, 1997-2001.
Dr. Iwan also involved in the offshore project management & supervision team and fabrication review. During the periods of 2001-03 and 2005-07, Dr. Iwan took up the appointment of Deepwater Technology Specialist at Deepwater Department, PETRONAS Carigali in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to work as team leader for the Joint Industry Project (JIP) on flexible pipe and riser technology for deepwater application.
Dr. Iwan received his BS in Civil and Structural Engineering from the University of Indonesia, M.Sc. in Ocean Engineering from The George Washington University, USA and Ph.D. in Ocean Engineering specializing in Deepwater Technology from Texas A&M University, USA.
He is currently also a lecturer of the graduates program in Offshore Engineering & Naval Architecture at Department of Civil Engineering, University of Indonesia (UI), Ocean Engineering at Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), and Petroleum Engineering at Trisakti University.
Director of Technology
Mr. Waldemar Husada is the Technology Director of Archipelago Offshore Engineering. He started his career as a piping and mechanical equipment engineer for Floating Production Unit Projects in GUSTO (currently SBM). Afterwards, years in FLUOR added an experience onshore Petrochemical Engineering Project in Saudi Arabia. He continued his offshore engineering career path with INTECSEA and GDF Suez E&P. In 2013, he started his career as an independent consultant for various companies .
Besides his professional engineering careers, Mr. Waldemar Husada is also dedicated his life as lecturer for different international institutions .
During his career, Mr. Waldemar Husada has gained hand-on engineering, construction and operation experiences in various FPSO’s, SPAR’s, Subsea Pipelines, Platforms and Polypropylene projects. Operating as independent consultant in various oil and gas blocks and his expertise are in the areas of upstream oil & gas and (green) energy technology solutions.
Mr. Waldemar Husada now focuses on company’s technology, project management and new business line development, and provides advise as a independent consultant to various companies. Mr. Waldemar Husada graduated from Technical University of Delft with a Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, majoring in Process Equipment
DR. AMIN GUNAWAN
Director, Technology and Business Development (Singapore Office)
Dr. Amin Gunawan is Director, Technology and Business Development, of Archipelago Offshore Engineering Singapore office. He has more than 25 years of comprehensive experience in the offshore and marine industry. He was a production engineer at Batam fabrication yard, McDermott Indonesia, and a structural, pipeline and project engineer at McDermott Singapore (1992-97).He has worked as a senior engineer at ABS Pacific Division on the guide development of offshore floating structures and the setup of offshore technology centre (2006-08).
Dr. Gunawan was a consultant to Jurong Shipyard on the load-out of semi-submersible upper hull in 2003. He was a reviewer to Coogee Resources/PTTEP Australasia, Premier Oil Vietnam Offshore and PTSC PetroVietnam on the FPSO structures and Chim Sao field heavy lift (2008-09). He served as a consultant and project manager to Six Tee Engineering groups for the proprietary development of deepwater Jack-up, and to Maritime Research Centre, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), on the research development of the underwater infrastructure and underwater city for the future funded by the National Research Foundation (2010-15).
Dr. Gunawan was previously an assistant professor and director for MSc in offshore engineering at NTU (2001-06). He was a task force member in developing the Singapore National Annex for Eurocode-3, and was in the subcommittee proposing the offshore and marine technology roadmap for R&D advisory panel, Maritime Port Authority Singapore. He has published some 50 technical papers and more than 50 engineering reports.He serves as a reviewer for several international journals.
Dr. Gunawan received his BEng (Class One honours) in Civil and Structural Engineering from The University of Sheffield, MSc DIC in Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics from Imperial College London, and PhD on tubular joint research from NTU.He is currently also a guest lecturer of the graduates program at School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and a project leader at Maritime Research Centre, NTU.
DR. RS TRIJANA KARTOATMODJO
Senior Expert Advisor
Dr. RS Trijana Kartoatmodjo is currently serving as Senior Expert Advisor in Petroleum Engineering at P.T. Archipelago Offshore Engineering since 2011. He was previously the deputy chairman of the Executive Agency of Indonesian Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (BPMIGAS) responsible for managing production-sharing-contracts that involved more than 160 contractors in Indonesia. Prior to this assignment, Dr. Kartoatmodjo worked as a field engineer, technical engineer, engineering and project manager in the national oil and gas company, PERTAMINA, for more than 30 years.
Dr. Kartoatmodjo was an alumnus of Bandung Institute of Technology. He received his M.Sc and Ph.D. degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa in 1990 and 1994 respectively. Dr. Kartoatmodjo was the co-author of the paper entitled the physical correlations for estimating hydrocarbon liquid properties estimating hydrocarbon liquid properties, published in the oil and gas journal 1994, which had been referenced worldwide.
Dr. Kartoatmodjowas a member in the advisory board of petroleum engineering department in the University of Tulsa, 1997-1999. He had been the chairman and member of technical committee in several international oil & gas drilling, production and reservoir engineering conference for the past many years.
At the national level, Dr. Kartoatmodjo served as a Chief Investigator in the committee appointed by the government to examine the disaster of the mud eruption at Banjar Panji, Sidoarjo, during the period of 2006 and 2007. He was the Chairman of the Oil & Gas Production Enhancement Advisory Board in Indonesia appointed by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources in 2009. He was also a member of the government delegates to present to the department of energy under the US-Indonesia energy policy dialogue on the prospect of Indonesian LNG in US Market, and to the Russian Chamber of Commerce on the overview of oil and gas industry in Indonesia at Washington DC and Moscow, 2005 and 2008, respectively.
He is currently also a lecturer at Petroleum Engineering Graduate Program, Trisakti University.
DR. JOHN E. HALKYARD
Senior Technical Advisor
Dr. John Halkyard is currently serving as Senior Technical Advisor in Floating Production Systems at P.T. Archipelago Offshore Engineering since 2009. He is also the visiting professor of Maritime Technology at National University of Singapore. He has over 40 years working experience in deep ocean system development including the deep ocean mining and floating production systems. He was one of the original architects for the very successful Spar concept for deep water oil production.
Dr. Halkyard retired from the industry in 2007 and has since formed John Halkyard & Associates to provide conceptual design and analysis services for floating offshore facilities, oil and gas drilling and production, ocean mining and alternate energy.
Dr. Halkyard was previously the Vice President of Arctec Offshore Corp responsible for marketing and managing hydrodynamic and structural testing related to naval and offshore projects (1984-88), Consultant and Technical Director of Deep Oil Technology Inc. for analysis and testing of SPAR floating production systems (1989-2000), Vice President, Product Technology and Deep water R&D, of Aker Engineering Inc. (2000-03), and Chief Technical Advisor, Floating and Fixed Facilities Product Group, of Technip USA Inc. (2003-07). Dr. Halkyard received his BS degree in Engineering Science from Purdue University, MS and Sc.D. in Ocean engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 1966, 1969 and 1972 respectively.
Dr. Halkyard is the Registered Engineer at California since 1983. He is a life fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), member of the Board of Directors of ASME-International Petroleum Technology Institute, Associate Editor for the Journal of Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering and Chair of the International Professional Advisory Panel, University of Hawaii, Department of Ocean and Resources Engineering. Dr. Halkyard published extensively in the international journals and conferences and contributed significantly to the publication of books and monographs. He currently owned five (5) US patents related to the innovative design of offshore structural components.
